The History of House of Blues Houston
On a day in October 2008, a unique venue opened in downtown Houston—House of Blues Houston. It became part of the Houston Pavilions complex and quickly stood out for its blend of live music and Southwestern cuisine.
The visionaries behind the House of Blues concept were Isaac Tigrett, co-founder of Hard Rock Cafe, and Dan Aykroyd, the well-known actor from The Blues Brothers. The first House of Blues opened in 1992 in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and by 2008, the concept had expanded to Houston.
It’s worth noting that House of Blues Houston spans over 43,000 square feet and can host up to 2,100 guests. Visitors are particularly captivated by its interior design, which features one of the largest public collections of American folk art—over 5,000 pieces in total. As a result, the venue serves not only as a music hall but also as a cultural museum.
Music, Food, and Culture
House of Blues Houston quickly became a gathering place for fans of jazz, blues, rock, hip-hop, and alternative music. The venue is also beloved for its flavorful Southwestern cuisine. Signature dishes include BBQ Brisket Nachos, Pulled Pork Sandwiches, and Bread Pudding.

About the Founders
House of Blues was founded by Isaac Tigrett and Dan Aykroyd. Tigrett is an American entrepreneur and music promoter best known as the co-founder of Hard Rock Cafe. His vision was to create a cultural hub that combined music, food, and art.
Dan Aykroyd, a well-known actor, comedian, and musician, supported the project by helping attract artists and promote the concept. The opening of House of Blues Houston was part of the network’s ongoing expansion.
